The Canadian Society for Pelvic Medicine (CSPM) is now accepting proposals for workshops for its 8th Annual Meeting in Edmonton, AB, April 9–11, 2027.
CSPM workshops advance the Society's mission to improve pelvic health care through education, research, and collaboration. They are in-depth, interactive sessions that address identified educational needs, foster innovation, and support multidisciplinary collaboration. Workshops should be hands-on and highly participatory to offer the best learner experience.
CSPM will host up to six workshops during the Annual Meeting. Workshops are approximately 3 hours long, with an additional 30 minutes before and after for setup and teardown. All workshops must be accessible to all participants.
Submissions
Workshop proposals (2–4 pages) should include:
- title
- learning objectives
- target audience
- format
- teaching methods
- equipment needs
- estimated enrolment capacity
- a draft budget
Please email your proposal to info@canadiansocietyforpelvicmedicine.org. You will receive an email acknowledging receipt.
Who Can Submit
Workshops may be proposed by CSPM members, committees, or invited Faculty.
- Course Directors must be CSPM members in good standing.
- Faculty are encouraged to be CSPM members. Non-members may be invited to bring specific expertise.
- All proposed Course Directors and Faculty must have agreed to participate, including confirming their availability for the Meeting dates, before their names are included in a proposal.
- The number of presenters should reflect the needs of the workshop format.
Review and Selection
All submissions are reviewed and scored by CSPM's Scientific Meeting Committee on:
- Alignment with CSPM’s mission and strategic priorities
- Relevance to a multidisciplinary audience
- Evidence of educational need or demand
- Conflict-of-interest disclosures reviewed
- Use of local Faculty where possible
- Financial and logistical feasibility, including equipment
Budget and approval
Workshop budgets are approved by the Treasurer within a total workshop envelope set by the Board, and reported to the Board at its next meeting. A workshop budget that would exceed the envelope requires Board approval. Financial support will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and workshop presenters are encouraged to explore alternative sources of support.
Confirmation
The Scientific Meeting Committee reviews the final Faculty list and conflict-of-interest disclosures, applying mitigation measures where necessary. The approved budget and any recommended reimbursements are forwarded to the Treasurer for financial sign-off.
Workshop Policy Highlights
- Course Directors and Faculty do not receive honoraria unless otherwise approved by the Scientific Meeting Committee and the Treasurer.
- All Faculty must disclose relevant financial relationships, both verbally and on their introductory slide. Sponsor recognition is limited to a neutral acknowledgement, such as signage or a single acknowledgement slide. Sponsor logos are not permitted on educational slides.
- Workshop attendance requires Annual Meeting registration, and a separate workshop fee is usually charged. Attendees do not need to be CSPM members. Course Directors and Faculty receive complimentary access to their own workshop but must register for the Annual Meeting to attend other sessions.
- Industry-sponsored, non-accredited sessions are not CSPM workshops and are not accepted through this call. They follow CSPM's sponsorship and exhibitor guidelines.
- CSPM may cancel a workshop that has not met its minimum registration threshold (normally 10 participants) 21 days before the workshop's date.
The points above are the highlights only. Please read the full Annual Meeting Workshop Policy before submitting a proposal, as all accepted workshops must follow it in its entirety.
