CSPM Research Mentorship Program
CSPM recognizes that developing a successful research program and establishing a research infrastructure are challenging and frequently even overwhelming tasks. On the other hand, many of CSPM’s accomplished members lead successful well-funded research programs and have an abundance of expertise that can be shared with novice researchers desiring more guidance. Therefore, CSPM has created its own Research Mentorship Program to help guide members through various stages of their research career.
Participants in this program will also have the opportunity to form practical and meaningful professional relationships. Mentors and mentees will engage in learner driven professional development sessions over a 12-month program.
This program uses a formal structure to support the formation of relationships that participants might not have been comfortable initiating informally. Each mentoring pair will define most aspects of their relationship, including the types of support the mentor is asked to provide to the mentee, the frequency of meetings and the desired learning outcomes for the mentee.
The R&D Committee will help match mentees to mentors. Both mentors and mentees will be recruited through a questionnaire that will help with the matching process. We will provide interested mentees with a list of potential mentors that each mentee can review with short biographies. Each mentee will be asked to identify three potential mentors and why the mentee would like to match with them. We are asking for the top three, to ensure that we can find a good match.
